NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness at NAMI.org
If you have a family member or you yourself are suffering with a severe mental illness including schizophrenia, schizoaffective, manic-depression (bipolar), panic, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and need support or information about any of these severe mental illnesses, please explore the NAMI website. Mental illness is brain illness and when someone we love shows signs of needing help, family members don’t often know where to go. NAMI is a three-tiered organization as there is the National NAMI organization, then every state has a NAMI State organization, and then many local communities have Local Affiliates. NAMI offers emotional support and educational programming for family members to learn more about mental illness. Please do not feel shy or embarrassed to reach out for their help. NAMI.org is a great place to start.
